About Me
In 2003, I graduated from the University of Chicago with my PhD in sociology. Since then, I've been teaching at Indiana University.
My research focuses on the organizational side of politics, higher education, healthcare, and the arts. I am the author of four books on sociology and academia. My work has been published by academic journals such as the American Journal of Sociology, the Academy of Management Journal, and Social Forces. Please consult the page on books and academic articles for more details.
Currently, I am the editor of Contexts, the official magazine of the American Sociological Association. I also co-write the orgtheory.net blog and I advocate on behalf of free migration. When I am not teaching or doing research related work, I read science fiction, follow the arts, and practice music.
